Glossary
What is ransomware?
Ransomware is malware that encrypts a victim's files and demands payment to unlock them. It is a leading threat to SMEs: it can paralyze an entire organization and cause data loss, downtime and Law 25 reporting obligations.
Protection relies on multiple layers: monitoring, endpoint protection, up-to-date patching, staff training and, above all, tested offline backups that allow restoring without paying.
ITGS combines these measures to reduce risk and speed recovery if an attack occurs.

Frequently asked questions
Should you pay the ransom?
Authorities advise against it: payment does not guarantee recovery and funds crime. Tested backups are the best protection.
